Zane's Birthday

Last Friday, 2/26, our little guy Zane had his 1st birthday. The next day, being a Saturday, was a better time to hold his party. We decided to go all out for our little man. Anita planned a rather elaborate party with a bug theme. You'll see in the pictures and videos below an inchworm cake, 2 dirt cakes in sand pails, bugs on the table, and ladybug & bumble bee cookies. There were around 20 or so children at the party, so we had a packed house too. All in all, it was a good day, but night night time was a little crazy, as Callie & Zane were on their first ever sugar high and would not go to sleep. After employing some measures they finally went to sleep, but now we know what parents mean when they talk about these awful "sugar highs" their kids get on. Anyway, enjoy the pics. There is a caption here and there as well to explain some of them, plus there are a couple of cute pics of Callie at the bottom.

After all the madness, a couple days later, we let Zane open his birthday presents from Mom, Dad, & Callie, as well as a few from his grandparents. Above is a pic from that time and here is a video from then as well.

A few weeks ago, Jeremy told Callie about pockets, and ever since she has just been crazy about her pockets. Along with that is her obsession with manhole covers that make a noise when you jump on them. Above is a picture of her with her hands in her pockets standing on top of one of her favorite manholes in our neighborhood.

Below is a picture of Callie with her baby doll in one of our baby carriers. It's actually an adult one, but our helper helped her put it on and actually tied some of the straps for her. She really loved carrying her "baby" around in a carrier like mom and dad do for her and Zane. She is a true big sister. Also in these two pics, notice her big smiles. Just in the past couple weeks she's started to smile big when you tell her to for the picture.
Thanks for checking out this post. Hope you enjoyed it!

Happy Birthday! Your kids are so cute :) Love the bug theme, so creative with the dirt cakes and gummy worms! Is that a jello caterpillar and I guess oreo cookie crumbs? LOL about the sugar high. I've been training my kids regularly to eat sugar cuz I love it - cookies, ice cream, jello, cakes, hot chocolate (lots of milk) etc not too much candy though so we can get away with desserts almost every night. Gotta brush!
