Sharing a Birthday with Jesus!

So, Callie Noel was born on Christmas day 2007. While I know that this can be tough for a lot of kids, we tend to think it can be different. Will people outside our immediate family treat the two events as one by doing insensitive things like wrapping her birthday presents in Christmas paper and calling them “2 fer 1 specials?” Yeah, I’m sure. However, in our family we’ve decided to make a big deal out of this. Who better to share a birthday with? At this stage, she is loving it. And yes, she gets double presents and a birthday party with her friends earlier in the month so she can feel somewhat like every other kid. But the point, little girl, is this: The day you were born is also the day we celebrate the coming of Jesus, so we hope that your life will be a story of expectant longing for Jesus and his second coming. We love you baby! And we love you Jesus!

Here are some pics and videos from both the party (12/15) and from Christmas day.

4 Months in Review…sorry

Sorry to any of you faithful blog-followers.  The past five months for us have been quite busy, so there are several things we’d love to update you about.  I guess it’s kind of funny because you would think the busier you are, the more you would blog and tell folks about it, but for us it’s the opposite.  The busier we are the less blogging we do!

Anyway, thanks for taking a look.  Below we’ll put some pics and vids for you to enjoy.  Then biggest news for us is that in August we decided to begin the adoption process.  Most of you know this already, but anyway there are two main reasons we decided to pursue this.

The first is simply the gospel.  God in Christ chose to father us even when we weren’t his children.  We believe that adoption is just one of the ways God is desiring to show us more of his heart.

The second reason is calling.  We believe God has primarily called us to himself, that is to believe and follow him.  One of our several secondary callings, we feel, is to adopt.  The moment of truth, I guess, was when Jude finally hit a year old and we felt like life wasn’t so crazy anymore and we got back to the question of adopting.  Before we knew we would have Jude we figured maybe kiddo #3 would be adopted and we’d be done, but when #3 surprised us we had to decide if adoption was really what we wanted to do, and if it was, then would we be willing to have four children.  And the answer to that is yes.  So, here we go!

We’ll share more in a later post about what’s involved and what the journey has been so far.

Here are some pics from the past five months for now though.  Enjoy.

One of Anita’s newest sewing creations.  She took a bunch of shirts she didn’t like anymore or that didn’t fit right and used parts of them to make this dress for Callie:

We’d love to post some videos, but we just don’t have time to sort through them tonight.  We leave for a conference and vacation in Thailand in a couple days and need to get packing.  We should get more pics uploaded to http://picasaweb.google.com/jeremyandanita asap.

And stay tuned in the next few days for a post about Callie’s birthday and our Christmas together.
